Voices for Change: The calamitous cost of housing – and the many factors undermining affordability with Dr. Jill Grant

Everyone is aware of the current housing crisis in Canada – and in many other nations. Not only is housing hard to find, but it has grown increasingly unaffordable. Political leaders call for ‘cutting red tape’ and reducing local development fees while housing advocates call on governments to provide more resources to help individuals and households in need. In this talk, Dr. Grant will discuss the array of factors contributing to the calamitous cost and inadequate supply of housing and consider what it may take to begin to improve the situation.

About the Speaker: Dr. JIll Grant is a Professor Emeritus at Dalhousie University. Dr. Grant’s research examines planning theory and practice to understand how cities work and how planning can improve places that are important to us.
